didyouhearthat: Santogold “Lights Out” (Budlite Remix)

Santogold
Damn, in keeping with my Santi Love let’s all be impressed by her confidence to keep this remix off her record and give it to www.budlitetime.com! This track is banging! And now I’m thinking about buying Bud Lite. So mission accomplished. I have been target marketed.

Bud Lite Lime Pays Santogold

YouTube Preview Image
Santi’s album does not drop till next tuesday April 29th but someone at Bud Lite’s Ad agency is way on the blog tip for tapping “Creator” for this spot.

I’m glad Santi is getting paid. And I’m even applauded her efforts on Ashlee Simpson’s lead single “Outta My Head (Blah Blah Blah)” And that song is a steaming pile. Santi wrote another track on the record but I can’t bring myself to listen to it.

Sony BMG and Honda Civics Hook up

According to Adweek. The 2008 Honda Civic will have a branded widget that includes new videos from Sony BMG artist such as Christina Aguilera, Dido, and Alicia Keys ( aren’t these all the same artist?). Good for Sony to get that alternate revenue stream. You can’t be mad at that. But if the Honda Civic is trying to add some hip factor to their product why wouldn’t they take it to the streets? Like Scion? It seems this partnership is Honda saying they want to be hip and then not doing any research as to what that is. Avril Lavigne video’s on a site will not make me or anyone want a Honda Civic any more unless I wanted the damn car to begin with. They are popular cars, are they not? It seems they could a have been a bit more creative in selecting the type of marketing and promotion. And more daring with the type of artist.

However, I do imagine driving the 2008 Honda Civic to be the automotive equivalent to one of the Gray’s Anatomy montage’s.

Do You Remember Rock & Roll?

If not, let the Alabama Shakes remind you. They’re selling out shows across the country and their debut album isn’t even out for another couple months. I managed to see these blues-infused soul grabbers play a jam packed show at the Indy in San Francisco last night. Best overpriced scalped ticket I ever bought! Don’t [...]

Did You Hear That? Best of 2011 Part 2 M83 – “Midnight City”

Continuing work on my best of heard in 2011, next up is M83  “Midnight City”. My complete spotify playlist can be heard here. Separating the fact that this song is used in a Victoria’s Secret commercial. it’s still pretty great. It was produced by  Justin Meldal Johnson who also produced my favorite Big Sir remix [...]

Love Letter from the West Coast

Oh, hey there, East Coast! Looks like you had a bit of an earthquake, huh? Don’t worry, I’m not gonna razz you about it. You’re ill-equipped for the tremors. A big quake would be way more catastrophic there than it would be here. You’re right to be a little jumpy about it. Well, I’m no [...]

Did You Hear That: Adele “21″ a brief review

From the first beat of “Rolling in the Deep,” the first track on Adele’s new album, “21”, it is clear that even at such a young age (all of 22 now), singer/songwriter Adele continues to be a force stronger than she may know. As “21” dips into the style of the country South with a [...]

So Sayeth Pam: The Raveonettes “Forget That You’re Young”

I like a young American band that makes vintage-sounding reverbalicious melodies. Specifically if those bands are Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls or Dum Dum Girls. Call me a nationalist but I just happen to prefer their take on fuzz pop to that of their Danish predecessors, the Raveonettes. Which is not to say I dislike the [...]
