I was passed a poster for this Broadway play the other day and my friend reminded me that this play was written and stars Stew (Just Stew). Lead singer of the Los Angeles band The Negro Problem. This band was so good in the late 1990′s due to the sardonic lyrics and infectious melodies.
The play has moved from the Public Theatre downtown and opens at the Belasco Theatre on February 28th. I’m in.
Just as I started to look for some music to prepare me to get excited about this Silverlake to Broadway success story I found this Passingstrangeonbroadway.com
Indie Rock meets Broadway. Who else could do this? The Who’s Tommy was not exactly “indie”. Perhaps a Broadway version of the movie “Once” would be entertaining.
