Snoop Dogg Bows Down to the Alter of All Things 80’s

YouTube Preview Image
Snoop Dogg’s new video ” Sensual Seduction” harkins back to a simpler time of keytar’s and women dressed like ho’s. This song hits all the notes of everything great about 80′s synth rock. It has lush pads and a hi-hat line that is very similar to “Set it off” which is always a party starter.

Me and Bono are the Same

…Well in one aspect. We will both talk non-stop through a good song so the other people in the room trying to enjoy it, can’t. I have been told this many times. Almost every time. In this ilike vlog Bono does a on the fly “story tellers” of the song “Waves Of Sorrow” . A “new” song recorded during the Joshua Tree sessions that did not make it on the album 20 years ago. Thank God for the re-release.
Now I bought Joshua Tree in 87′. I had a college sized album cover poster on my dorm wall. I went to see them like 3 times in one year. So you could say I was/am a fan. But even I question the necessity of the re release. How come this song was not included when they issued the
u2 ipod and their entire catalog through itunes ? Oh it wasn’t finished at the time. Well.

The song ain’t bad. Bono wants to know what you think. Watch the video then post a comment.

If you are 12 and you don’t have the Joshua Tree now is a good time to get it. If your name is Chris Martin and you think your band is making epic-sweeping-heartfelt-arena-rock-anthems, you should really get this record. Because Joshua Tree accomplished all those things with out the benefit of having the Joshua Tree as a guideline.

Madonna is cutting out the middle man (too).

Internet buzz says that Madonna and Live Nation are inching closer to finalizing a major recording, touring, and merchandising deal. Meaning she won’t have a traditional record company/ contract  cause she won’t need one.

The rumoured structure behind this deal is said to be  10-year, $120 million arrangement with Live Nation.  Madonna then is  to receive heavy advances from the concert giant, both for signing the deal and for the delivery of three albums.   As well as the right to promote concert tours, sell merchandise and license Madonna’s name.

Result of this weeks activities in the music industry should have the major’s scrambling as they realized they are not needed by the very artist they helped create.

Without the top sellers on rosters how can the labels support the smaller acts that only sell 100k? They can’t.

More artist need to D.I.Y

Majors?  Start putting out records that people want to hear and pay for!

I am looking at you Rick Rubin.

Do You Remember Rock & Roll?

If not, let the Alabama Shakes remind you. They’re selling out shows across the country and their debut album isn’t even out for another couple months. I managed to see these blues-infused soul grabbers play a jam packed show at the Indy in San Francisco last night. Best overpriced scalped ticket I ever bought! Don’t [...]

Love Letter from the West Coast

Oh, hey there, East Coast! Looks like you had a bit of an earthquake, huh? Don’t worry, I’m not gonna razz you about it. You’re ill-equipped for the tremors. A big quake would be way more catastrophic there than it would be here. You’re right to be a little jumpy about it. Well, I’m no [...]

Did You Hear That: Adele “21″ a brief review

From the first beat of “Rolling in the Deep,” the first track on Adele’s new album, “21”, it is clear that even at such a young age (all of 22 now), singer/songwriter Adele continues to be a force stronger than she may know. As “21” dips into the style of the country South with a [...]

So Sayeth Pam: The Raveonettes “Forget That You’re Young”

I like a young American band that makes vintage-sounding reverbalicious melodies. Specifically if those bands are Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls or Dum Dum Girls. Call me a nationalist but I just happen to prefer their take on fuzz pop to that of their Danish predecessors, the Raveonettes. Which is not to say I dislike the [...]
