I like a young American band that makes vintage-sounding reverbalicious melodies. Specifically if those bands are Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls or Dum Dum Girls. Call me a nationalist but I just happen to prefer their take on fuzz pop to that of their Danish predecessors, the Raveonettes. Which is not to say I dislike the Raveonettes. I like them just fine. In fact, I like them even more after learning that frontman Sune Rose Wagner helped produce the upcoming new Dum Dum Girls EP, He Gets Me High, due out March 1st. And I’m especially interested in hearing the rest of the Raveonettes forthcoming album after listening to their lovely new track, “Forget That You’re Young.”
I’m just gonna keep this on repeat til their full LP, Raven in the Grave, hits the street on April 5th.

Did You Hear That: Adele “21″ a brief review
From the first beat of “Rolling in the Deep,” the first track on Adele’s new album, “21”, it is clear that even at such a young age (all of 22 now), singer/songwriter Adele continues to be a force stronger than she may know. As “21” dips into the style of the country South with a rollicking and rocking propulsion, it highlights the strength of Adele’s voice as surely as it asserts the certainty of her dignity. It’s a little sad to hear stories of heartache and loss from such a young girl, but the strength of Adele’s talent is so clear, it almost negates the natural tendency to empathize. For while she laments being misunderstood and left behind, here she is, soaring ahead with her raspy and textured voice, beautiful and sure and stronger than heartbreak.
