Internet buzz says that Madonna and Live Nation are inching closer to finalizing a major recording, touring, and merchandising deal. Meaning she won’t have a traditional record company/ contract cause she won’t need one. The rumoured structure behind this deal is said to be 10-year, $120 million arrangement with Live Nation. Madonna then is to receive heavy advances from the concert giant, both for signing the deal and for the delivery of three albums. As well as the right to promote concert tours, sell merchandise and license Madonna’s name. Result of this weeks activities in the music industry should have the major’s scrambling as they realized they are not needed by the very artist they helped create. Without the top sellers on rosters how can the labels support the smaller acts that only sell 100k? They can’t. More artist need to D.I.Y Majors? Start putting out records that people want to hear and pay for! I am looking at you Rick Rubin.
