ROME – 3 Dreams of Black – HTML 5 Music Video

YouTube Preview Image

I recently have had some discussions with web designers and tech companies about creating an HTML 5 music video. As it happens some artist with money keep beating us to market, but they are also paving the way to what is ultimately the “enabling developers to make experiences like  Rome happen”.

Check out the full video with Google Chrome here. So I would like to see more of this, with band that I am working with.

Oh and this track has lovely vocals by Ms. Norah Jones too.

Merrill Garbus is a living, breathing musical instrument who played before a sold-out crowd in San Francisco Tuesday night. For once, I had the good sense to buy tickets in advance. And I’m damn glad I didn’t miss out. Here are a few snapshots from the show:

So Sayeth Pam: Still 4/20 in My Mind

Consider this a delayed reaction to 4/20 (which, if you think about it, is the most appropriate reaction), but I believe it is high time for some serious psych rock. Put on your Hawkwind or Hendrix records if you got ‘em, but you really don’t need to dip back that far for this stoner holiday. Let’s just set the time machine for 2010, to the release of Innerspeaker, the full length debut album from Australia’s Tame Impala.

Yes, yes, I know — you don’t have to take drugs to make good music, blah blah blah. And I don’t wanna dismiss Tame Impala as a bunch of pothead musicians. But I’ll be damned if they didn’t smoke some good shit while making this record. These guys use effects pedals like they’re going out of style … or, umm, like they’re bringing them back in style. It’s all fuzzy, echo-y, melodic space jams from start to finish. And I mean the catchy kind.

The video for their song Expectation was shot on a 360° camera in a forest outside Paris. If this doesn’t put you in the right headspace for 4/20, I don’t know what will.

Do You Remember Rock & Roll?

If not, let the Alabama Shakes remind you. They’re selling out shows across the country and their debut album isn’t even out for another couple months. I managed to see these blues-infused soul grabbers play a jam packed show at the Indy in San Francisco last night. Best overpriced scalped ticket I ever bought! Don’t [...]

Did You Hear That? Best of 2011 Part 2 M83 – “Midnight City”

Continuing work on my best of heard in 2011, next up is M83  “Midnight City”. My complete spotify playlist can be heard here. Separating the fact that this song is used in a Victoria’s Secret commercial. it’s still pretty great. It was produced by  Justin Meldal Johnson who also produced my favorite Big Sir remix [...]

Love Letter from the West Coast

Oh, hey there, East Coast! Looks like you had a bit of an earthquake, huh? Don’t worry, I’m not gonna razz you about it. You’re ill-equipped for the tremors. A big quake would be way more catastrophic there than it would be here. You’re right to be a little jumpy about it. Well, I’m no [...]

Did You Hear That: Adele “21″ a brief review

From the first beat of “Rolling in the Deep,” the first track on Adele’s new album, “21”, it is clear that even at such a young age (all of 22 now), singer/songwriter Adele continues to be a force stronger than she may know. As “21” dips into the style of the country South with a [...]

So Sayeth Pam: The Raveonettes “Forget That You’re Young”

I like a young American band that makes vintage-sounding reverbalicious melodies. Specifically if those bands are Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls or Dum Dum Girls. Call me a nationalist but I just happen to prefer their take on fuzz pop to that of their Danish predecessors, the Raveonettes. Which is not to say I dislike the [...]
