4th Annual Afro Punk Film and Music Festival

Do you skateboard? Do you listen to Bad Brains? Did you get beat up for wearing a black satin MTV jacket at night in Lincoln Park in 1984? Are you Black? Well then this is the event for you.

Even if you don’t meet all the criteria above this is a really great event. In full discloser We had an afro punk festival in 1984 that consisted of me, Scotty, Dave and Deron drinking 40’s and watching 120 minutes on Deron’s sun porch every Sunday night.
We were highly organized.

Coachella 2008 Lineup: What’s the Big Deal

coachella 2008 line upThe Coachella 2008 line up was announced yesterday. I am shocked by the lack of motivating acts on the bill.

Question, When did Jack Johnson become a festival headliner? Truth be told this is one noodle dance, two joints and a converted bio-diesel Mercades full of trustafrians away from a phish show.

Portishead will be epic. I’m sure about this. Especially when coupled with some tasty treats from the team at Sparkle Motion. But they are doing a proper US tour and I don’t need to be wedged between a Hilton and Danny Devito to enjoy that. New Young Pony Club is also playing , but that will probably be in the middle of the day when the sun beats down upon my head, like a baseball bat.

Then Sunday, Roger Waters…. Really?… Really? Not even full on Pink Floyd? Come along. There will be more shirtless, backwards baseball hat wearing, throwing up on homemade ecstasy on my dunks, frat boys in that congregation. If I wanted that I could dust off my time machine and go to back to the Fiji party at Tufts in ‘87 when they were planning to go to Berlin.

This is the year to helicopter in for Saturday and before she get’s pregnant.

For the Record My Bloody Valentine would have been a coup. And really educated “the kids” in progressive alternative music.
But no. Jack Johnson is the offer. I wonder if he will play the music from Clifford the big red dog?

Word on the street is there is a East coast event as well but that has Jack Johnson in New Jersey….ugh
