One of the Four horseman of the Apocolypse Arrive: Shwayze

We are all for Hip-Pop, and novelty rap.Hell I myself worked as the tour manager for a major label novelty rap act in the late 90’s. We can even will back you up if the song get’s your girlfriend to make out with her friend while you take pictures. Tonight at the Giantstep event at Steve Madden Shwayze brought the diminishing returns factor up to a new high( or low ). There is nothing to hang on to in Shwayze’s music, but very superficial hooks and whack metaphors. However if the goal is to drink beers on roof tops with pretty girls, these guy’s will corner the market on that.

Shwayze’s self titled album is out Today 8.19.08 on Geffen records. Buy it. Buy many copies of it and play it at every last BBQ you go to for the rest of the summer. After that let’s all agree, to never play it again.

Katy Perry plays Giantstep event at Steve Madden

Katy Perry Trapped in Store Window
It is difficult not to draw parallels to Jill Sobule when thinking of Katy Perry as they share a very similar temperate. Also they both have written songs that share the title “I Kissed A Girl” which for us is an instant click through. Last night Katy performed a very stripped down version at the Steven Madden store on the lower east side. Without the raved up drums and 303 bass the song does seem clever and catchy.
I would hope to hear like it when her album drops. Which according to this article could be at a algorithmically chosen time in the future.

How good do Katy legs look though?

UPDATE: More pics and video here.
