Stolen Transmission has severed its ties with the master, Universal Music Group. Sarah Lewitinn is now free to champion indie music unfettered by the long hand of corporate law. Good for you SL and thanks for the Oohlas. I am sure there is no shortage of capitol investors willing to get behind your genius and start an ad driven media company that distributes and markets artist then shares the profits with them at a fair and reasonable split. All while nurturing the artist and letting them maintain creative control.

This article is hysterical. Doug Morris the CEO of Universal Music gave an interview in December’s Wired magazine where all it he seems to have is excuses. Excuses as to why the music industry is lagging behind the digital world. Excuses why nobody in under his watch got in front of the file sharing storm in 1999. Also why Universal is trying to fight itunes with the whack-assed Total Music ( I have not even heard of that). If I had this guy’s job and only offered “They just didn’t know what to do.” I’m sure I would have been replaced…um.
